225k Homeowners Claim Dog Bite Question

Claims Related

I was bit by my neighbors Doberman 2 years ago in an incident where my neighbor was pretty negligent tbh. I won’t go into the story but basically it attacked my leashed dog and bit me in the process. (Strict liability state.) A few months ago my attorney sent out a demand letter instructing him to contact his attorney and/or homeowners insurance. The demand letter only went into vague details on my damages but did provide a small overview of what happened describing how my neighbor was in the wrong. The demand was for 225k+.

Could this have called for some sort of response from his insurance even before any settlement talks or litigation have started? It’s large claim but nothing has even happened yet besides sending out the letter. I haven’t seen the dog in a few months now. It’s a wealthy area so I’m not sure if larger policies would make a difference.

I’m basically wondering what could have happened between his insurance and him, if anything. Thanks.
