I'm a gay man and I know my grandparents won't accept me.

so, I (20M) have known I was gay since I was like 15, and I've been out to my mom for about 2 and half years now. My grandparents on my dad's side are heavily Christian and have honestly eluded to being anti LGBTQ here and there, but have never actually said anything incredibly homophobic; but a part of me knows that if I were to come out it would change my relationship with them entirely. It honestly really sucks because they talk about how much they love me and care for me and I know that they probably mean it, but that's only because they don't know everything about me.

My mom has even suggested that I keep my "preference" a secret because of their religious background, and while I understand why she'd say that, that hasn't stopped me from feeling helpless knowing that I could lose family over something that shouldn't even be a big deal!

So, I want to know what you all think; and if I should just continue to pretend to be "normal" around my grandparents if that means having them around.
