Opinion: Jimi Hendrix is the father of noise rock
Not saying he was exactly the first, but his live performances, especially in his later years, were absolutely insane. Growly, gritty, distorted, and ear-shatteringly loud. He really put guitar effects on the map for non-musicians, people who would’ve never heard these sounds unless someone else used them as much as he did (wah, fuzz, octavia). Listen to his Woodstock performance and tell me he’s not at least the prince of noise rock.
