Small real-life sports world detail!

Okay this may be silly but one detail I love from the books/show is that Shane and Ilya do NOT win the cup every single year. This is very realistic to actual star athletes in professional sports. I know it would be easy to write the books like every year that it isn’t Shane, it’s Ilya winning the cup and vice versa—but the more realistic choice is that there are PLENTY of years that neither of them win. In the eleven years of the show I believe they collectively win the cup three times? Once for Ilya twice for Shane? While they’re depicted as the best in hockey, professional sports aresome of the most talented athletes in the world on every single team. Patrick Mahomes may be the best quarterback ever, but he doesn’t win every single Super Bowl. Aaron judge is one of the best baseball players and he may NEVER win win a World Series. Even reading The Lobg Game I thought it would be so fun if Ilya won a cup with Ottawa. But realistically that’s extremely unlikely with the way they’ve been depicted with new athletes and a new coach. I don’t know..may seem silly but helps the world building for meeee
