I wish Nan was alive to see The Pitt
She loved being a nurse, she lived that historical tale of going through nursing school and waiting on my Pops to return from Nam and get married; they actually did. Jesus one time Pops put in an old tape she made him and sent to him while in country and he shut it off because JESUS Nana
She loved showing me her college textbooks when I was young, her old Grey's Anatomy; she always encouraged me to get into the field, or science, or STEM.
But her favorite thing to tell me, besides the dirty rhymes her grandfather taught her, where the things she saw in her nursing days. Pops fucking hated it
So many goddsmn hamsters, lightbulbs, a rail road spike
And her best friend, Pineapple; a young Hawaiian women who, from tales told could draw blood faster and cleaner than a NASCAR pitcrew
The way she spoke about their friendships, and struggles
Her love of anything like Bones or House
God, I wish she'd have been alive to see Pitt. She'd have sat me in front of the TV with our cocoas and tell me what her team would have done, the dirty little secrets she loved to spill like the surgery guys hitting liquid cocaine, how she knew a guy like so and so and had dinner with his wife
God, I miss Nan
