What would you do?
Hi guys! I am looking for honest feedback and advice on what to do about my chronic mechanical issues. For context, I have a beautiful Honda Element '06 that my parents meticulously maintained for over 10 years until they gave it to me in late December! Every year, it has an issue with the solenoid, but nothing too crazy. However, in the past two months, my check engine light has come on over six times. I put about 50 miles on it every week, give or take, and drive it pretty gently. It is like clockwork that every 2 weeks or so, the engine light comes on.
These repairs have cost me a little over 2.2k in less than 2 months, and now the check engine light came on again(!!) today. Do you think I should throw in the towel and sell it or keep putting money into it? My family lives 5 hours away, and I would like to have a car that is reliable enough to see them without having to worry about breaking down. I am taking it into the mechanics again tomorrow, but I'm unsure if I will have them fix it anymore.
I love this car, but it is starting to feel like this car does not love me anymore! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and what you would do in my situation.
Thank you in advance!
