45M Burned Out in Real Estate After 10 Years. Is It Too Late to Pivot?

I’m 45M and honestly feeling pretty lost professionally. I’ve been a residential real estate agent for the past 10 years. Before that, I spent 14 years in corporate finance as a financial analyst.

But the truth is… I’m burned out.

Real estate has been stressful and inconsistent. The income volatility, constant client demands, weekends, chasing deals, and never really feeling “off” has taken a toll. I’m tired of the feast-or-famine cycle. I want stability. I want to stop worrying every month about where the next commission is coming from.

Going back into corporate finance feels unlikely (and honestly not exciting to me). It’s been 10 years since I’ve worked in that world, and I’m not sure anyone would take a 45-year-old who’s been out that long seriously.

I feel stuck in an in-between space: Too experienced to start over completely. Too young to coast. Too old to make reckless moves.

I’m willing to work and work hard. I’m not afraid of learning something new. I just don’t know what direction makes sense at this stage.

For those who’ve pivoted later in life, what can I get into. I’m open to ideas. I just don’t want to wake up at 50 still feeling this way. Appreciate any insight ... even tough love.
