Suggest me a book where the MC is both a victim and a perpetrator

I’ve been grappling a lot lately with themes of complicity and this dual role in violent systems and I’d love to read some fiction with a character who is both hurt by and benefiting from something - cults, discrimination, abuse, etc.

Serena Joy from The Handmaid’s Tale is the kind of character I’m thinking of - something more from that point of view.
