Question on freezing

Coffee Beans

Hi there. I've been doing a bit of research on storing beans in the freezer and wanted to know what you all think of my plan. I don't drink that much coffee, so my plan is to buy a 12oz or 1lb bag at a time and split it in half, leaving half in the cupboard in its bag (which ideally has a 1-way valve) and putting the other half in the freezer. After I finish the half I left out (after about 3-4 weeks), I'll take out the rest from the freezer and use that over the next 3-4 weeks. So I'm trying to decide on how best to store the frozen half.

I've narrowed it down to 1) a previously-used coffee bag with 1-way valve, with tape over the valve, in a freezer ziploc, or 2) use a freezer-safe mason jar. In both cases it seems I should let the beans degas for a few days before putting in the freezer. Both options seems identical to me as the valve is taped off. But perhaps the mason jar is more airtight? Or perhaps there's there's a better method? I'm trying to avoid buying anything extra.
