Where to start building toolset

Hey guys. Hate to admit this but it’s true. I’ve always had scattered mismatched tools most my life. Not super handy but still want the basics. Was thinking of ditching most my old stuff or using it for a boat toolkit and start slowly rebuilding with HF stuff as sales occur. I have an old craftsmen toolbox that holds most my stuff now.

What’s the best way to start? I want it all the be organized and clean.
