why I disagree with a good amount of rwby criticisms I have seen and a refutation to the claim that jaune is treated as more of a protagonist than ruby when he never was jaune is treated as a deutaragonist while rwby are treated as protagonists.

You know, the criticism toward Jaune Arc are like the best reprensation of what most RWBY critics tend to do with talking with the series. It starts reasonable with things like how weird is that he doesn't know what Aura is in spite of wanting to be a Huntsman as badly as Ruby or Pyhrra not finding his lack of knowledge weird at the moment, how he got a characther focus episode before Blake and Yang or the dumb love triangle/quartet in season 2. But immediatly goes to insanity when you go to the rest of the series and you get insane takes like "Jaune feels more like an actual protagonist than Ruby because they writers can't let go of this self-insert creator's pet" as far as volume 9, wich just make you wonder what show they were watching.

Pretty much every RWBY criticism that i see goes in that direction and treat any issue as the worst thing ever. The most reasonable are the ones that watched the first 3 volumes, didn't like then and just stopped caring about the series altogether. Those at least i can respect, but the rest....yikes.

There is...a multitude of factors here.

the dance arc is completely justified :you do need some kind of arc in V2 to bridge into the stuff with Pyrrha. From that, you can kind of see the point with Jaune being the 'actual protagonist'...so long as you ignore literally everything else a protagonist is supposed to do.

I have to be frank there isnt anything wrong with jaune getting a character arc before blake and yang jaune getting a character arc doesnt make him a protagonist or more loved then blake and yang. jaune needed the arc to explain his lack of skill and knowledge and the complaint about him not immediately accepting help from pyrrha is dumb its called a character flaw that he needs the arc he doesnt need less screentime

I am reminded of someone trying to respond to people noting that the jaune haters tending to bring up his gender and race when complaining

like acting like the fact team rwby the protagonists and who were in advertisements were girls means that guys should only be side characters who get little importance.

and they act like trying to flip it and pretend people who love jaune are just doing it based on race when there has never been anything pointing to that and NO the harem fics dont prove this its just a thing that pops up in many fics. it comes off as desperate its no different from someone responding to a claim that bb is only popular due to it being f/f by going you only ship blacksun due to genders involved
