Never, ever forget what war actually is.

Topic Discussion

It's so incredibly easy for us to hear about something absolutely devastating that happened in another part of the world, and then just... move on with our lives. How many people stop to think - really think - about what war means?

160+ dead schoolgirls. Most aged 6-12. Iranians have been pulling body parts out of the rubble of a primary school that was hit, most likely, by American bombs. Body parts of school girls. Arms. Legs. Heads.

Of schoolgirls.

The trauma the mothers of those girls are being forced to endure is unlike anything you can possibly imagine. It is arguably the single most painful emotion a human being is capable of experiencing in this life - a mother losing her young child. Unless you are a mother yourself, the pain is quite literally unfathomable.

Ask any of those mothers in mourning if they would willingly undergo weeks of the most brutal medieval torture if it meant they could bring their little girl back. Ask them if they would allow a thousand men to rape them if it meant the scattered pieces of their daughters' bodies could be put back together and the breath of life returned once again. I wouldn't be surprised if every single one of those mothers screamed YES before you even finished the sentence.

"War is hell" doesn't even begin to describe it. The level of abject suffering happening right now is utterly beyond comprehension.

Never, ever forget what war really is.
