what should i include in my portfolio?

right now I'm 16 and planning on working on a portfolio for a couple of years while i refine my art skills and understand more of the basic fundamentals of art. i have an idea of what i should include but if anyone has any advice on specifics like style, medium, quantity etc it would be greatly appreciated!
