Nurse → DIY skincare nerd → future aesthetician. Starting my journey today ✨
Hi everyone 👋
My name is Alana, I’m 30 years old, and I’m starting something I’ve dreamed about for a long time… becoming an aesthetician.
For the past few years I’ve been working as a nurse, and while I really value the experience and everything healthcare has taught me, I’ve always been fascinated by skincare, aesthetics, and helping people feel confident in their own skin. It’s been a quiet dream in the background for a long time.
Interestingly, aesthetics has already been a big part of my life just in a very DIY way. For the last couple of years I’ve mostly been experimenting and doing treatments on myself, learning about skincare, techniques, and products out of pure curiosity. You could say I’ve been a “DIY aesthetician” for my own face 😅
Recently I finally decided to stop just thinking about it and actually start taking it seriously. I enrolled in an online aesthetics course and I’m beginning this journey step by step.
I thought it could be interesting (and motivating for me) to document the process here. The learning, the challenges, the mistakes, and hopefully the progress too.
Right now I’m at the very beginning: studying the basics, learning about skin types, treatments, and the science behind skincare. As a nurse, I’m especially interested in the medical side of aesthetics and doing things safely and responsibly.
If anyone here is also starting a new career path, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Let’s help each others grow 🩷
