I did something really bad to my dog and I really regret it

So I have a lot of anger issues and when I was a child I had a history of attacking my dog whenever they bit me. Today when I got home from school I decided to pet my dog but she bit me, the reason is because someone gave her a pizza crust and she was trying to guard it. Because of this I got angry and managed to get the pizza crust and throw it out. I felt bad after because it reminded me of my previous anger issues with me dog, I felt bad so I gave my dog a couple of treats and also since I assumed they were starving decided to feed them actua dog food into their bows. I don't know if what I did is considered abuse, I told my therapist about it and he said it was reasonable to do that. By the way I can't get rid of my dogs because my parents won't let me
