Would you move?
We are a family of six, our kids are 8, almost 6, 4, and almost 2. We currently live in an expensive area where we bought the house during the crazy market and kind of settled in some of our wants. It’s a 3 bedroom 1,900sq ft house on a lot where the homes are very close together with a great backyard. however no privacy because the homes kind of sit on a hill overlooking it, which does give us a basement too which is about 900sqft. (Currently our older 3 share a room and the toddler has her own room) The basement does not have hvac or a bathroom. Our driveway is also super short and cannot fit two car lengths, so high school years there’s no where for my kids to park if they were to have a car..(and a swear the road on our street is smaller than typical so parking on the road would be just in the way constantly) Our schools are highly rated, in fact it’s the 3rd top rated school in the state and the area we live in has been top rated area for families for a long time.. there are multiple cute downtown spots to hang out and lots of parks and things to do, hence why this area got multiple awards…we actually can walk to our school which has created a beautiful little community that we love!! however the culture of the overall area (outside our neighborhood) is very “keeping up with the jones” everyone goes to Disney world multiple times a year, pays for the expensive toys/ things… it’s affluent. We however are not.. we currently are on a single income and just barely making it each month. We have a lot of debt and all our money is tied into the house. We probably have just under 300k in equity. We have really great friends and neighbors that we are starting to form great relationships with, the people on our direct neighborhood is more down to earth. However if we move, we could be out of debt, would have a house that would fit our needs more but it also would mean moving to a different area that’s more affordable and potentially not as good schools.. not bad schools just not as rated as high but I wonder if that’s a good thing too.. our high school has started a whole counseling department because of the stress that’s put on the kids to perform 😅
