Wrist pain with nearly all exercises

Aches and pains

I started going to the gym a couple of months ago. I have practically never done any workout before in my life, so pretty new to everything. I go with a friend who has more experience, and we do mostly machine exercises as well as some light bench press and dumbells exercises.

The issue is that, since I started, my right wrist hurst with almost any exercise I do, it does not matter if I push or pull, any kind of machine or bars/dumbells. It also happens if I try to do push ups, for example. And the left wrist is OK, no pain at all.

I talked to my doctor and went for an X-ray, still waiting on the results, but meanwhile I wanted to know what can I do to avoid the pain. I asked the doctor about wearing a wrap, he said it was not recommended but did not give any explanation at all.

I know it's hard to give advice without actually seeing my posture when training or knowing more medical details, but any tips or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
