"Be patient"

Everyone defending it keeps saying things like, "They’re going for a Silver Age feel" for the costumes or "In some animations, Hal didn't have the streaks immediately" for the green aura. Guys, are we really going to keep hunting for single screenshots from issues and animations to justify this? You’re acting as if the creators purposefully used those features because they read one specific issue and decided to stick with it. In reality, every problem we have boils down to a lack of creativity. They heard "space cops" and couldn't even deliver on that; instead they went with simple Midwest vibes and zero whimsy. I don't mean "whimsy" in a cute way, but the Green Lantern world was truly fantastical. In the comics, there was so much thought behind almost every panel and a ton of world-building in the background. I get that we shouldn't flame them after just one teaser but this doesn't even remotely portray the Lanterns. It feels like they’re trying to adapt a standard cop show with a tiny bit of Lantern "magic" sprinkled on top. I’ll still wait and watch but these defenses are getting annoying. The source material is right there. Unless they go on full Sonic and redesign it, it’s probably going to stay this bad and fans making excuses doesn't help. Maybe if we're vocal, they’ll actually see the feedback and change some things before the release. At least the color grading etc. Criticism helps.

Furthermore, I’m not buying the overall purpose of this show. If they want to make a detective series, they should adapt Detective Comics or something actually suited to that genre. I know we all imagined at some point Green Lantern stories having a "detective" or "cop" vibe but I never assumed it would be this dull and lifeless. They couldn't even embody the vibe of Hal Jordan, a guy who has enough iconic comic history to practically be part of the Trinity Instead, he’s just dropping F-bombs regularly like he is a random dude from any cop show lol
