falling behind in jc

I’m currently j1 in an ib school (got in through my o level results) but i’m a bit discouraged right now because all my classmates are smart and understand what’s going on in class while i’m falling behind. Majority were already from ib in secondary so they just transferred up, so they have already learnt some stuff that o level students never learnt. I feel like it’s harder for o level students to catch up and i just feel like everything i don’t understand is going to snowball and i might end up retaining. I never took higher chinese back in secondary school and my normal chinese was a pretty average mark, so i feel like im at such a huge disadvantage when coming to this school where basically everyone took higher chinese. Are there like any miracle stories or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I’m trying my best to study and catch up right now but my school is going at such a fast pace idk what to do
