Why do I make money only in Puts?
I started F&O very recently and over the few weeks where I have been trading I have realized two very specific things in trading results -
-
BTST never works for me. I am very bad at reading the room. Even when it works - I make very less overnight. But when it doesn't work, it wipes out 30-50% of my capital in the trade. I have hence decided I will never do BTST again.
-
I mostly participate in swing trading and my PnL reflects that. I try to capture the 10-20% moves with 5% SL rather than the 2x or 3x multiplier. But I only seem to make significant money when I buy Puts. More often than not, I lose money with Calls. Even when I make money with calls, it's not the same percent as what I make with Puts. This happens both on days when market is bullish and bearish.
So, my questions are -
-
Is it the same for everyone?
-
Or is it a personality trait where am able to sense a falling point rather than a climbing point? Or am not holding them long enough?
-
What is a good general strategy with making CE calls?
Additional notes -
-
I started with around 30L budget on 1st Jan, made losses of 12 lakhs in Jan, losses of 78k in Feb and profits of 8.2 lakhs thus far in March. All numbers include Government and Brokerage charges.

I am not aware of fundamentals of market as much as most I guess, so am looking for some simple things I can correct rather than study stuff like VIX/OI etc. I understand this might be gambling to an extent, but I am okay with it. So please avoid adding gyaan that is more mocking and less helpful.
