Aggressive housemate who owes money for bills.

Hi all! So here's the situation.

Moved into an apartment with a guy last year it it all went very wrong very quickly, super aggressive and difficult to speak to about bills and payments etc, eventually started getting physical so I had to call the police, but unfortunately nothing they can do as his word against mine.

To cut a long story short we moved out, and now he's refusing to pay the €3612.77 that we both owe for eneco, vattenfal and waternet final bills. I'm on medical leave, just looking to go back to work now, and have had to get a loan to cover everything, it's all getting a bit out of control. Any advice?
