insecure about sex because of hymenal remnants (?) and hyperpigmentation
i’ve (19F) been wanting to have sex for a while but i’m super insecure about my vagina. i think my hymen broke when i started using tampons because i have a fleshy string (few mm long) coming out of the very bottom of my vagina. i’m worried that when i have sex the guy will feel it or see it and think there’s something wrong with me. i don’t actually know if this is my hymen but from what i’ve researched it’s the most probable possibility.
i also have very distinct hyperpigmentation. i don’t know if i should be concerned because my vagina literally looks grey. it’s reddish-pink deeper in, but the tips of my labia fades into this super de-saturated grey colour. i don’t know if this is just genetics, irritation, or some underlying condition. it just looks like there’s something wrong with it and i’m pretty embarrassed.
all my friends are having sex very freely and i just wish i wasn’t so insecure. is there any way i can fix these things? i’m assuming i can’t do it at home (but let me know if there is a way) and that i should go to an OB-GYN, but i’m not sure how i can contact one. is a referral from a GP required? if yes, what am i supposed to tell my doctor? i feel awkward talking about things that are solely cosmetic to my doctor. are there any clinics that i can go to that specialize in this kinda stuff? i think i’d feel more comfortable going there.
please let me know what i can do to change these things. i know the ideal scenario is to just be confident and be with a guy who loves me regardless of how i look, but the likelihood of that is low. i guess i could wait till i find a decent guy and i stop being insecure but that could be years from now and i would prefer losing my virginity close to the age i’m at. i apologize if i sound shallow, i understand not everything is about physical appearance, but it’s still a concern on my mind. thanks for your help :)
