Can I apply permanent hair dye on a semi permanent of the same color?

So I have natural level 6 brown hair and I want to dye it all jet black, 1.0 color type stuff. I already have a few faceapp mockups which suggest it'll look good, so I went ahead and bought the supplies for it.

I have the oxidizer/developer for the permanent hair dye I bought, I have the dye itself, and all the necessary additional supplies. I could conceivably do it tonight.

I also have a semi permanent hair dye of the same color, different brand though. I know it's good practice to test dye on a small patch of hair first, so I'm wondering if I might just be able to apply the semi permanent dye *first*, try it on for a few weeks, and then decide on actually getting the permanent version...a test run so to speak.

And I'm wondering if that's even someone that's possible and also if I'll necessarily need clarifying shampoo before applying the permanent dye down the line, given the collar similarities.
