As a Pakistani Pashtun Muslim, Why I Left Islam

(Advice/Help)

My father was a very religious man and spent most of his time in worship. However, he never really did anything for our future. He used to beat us if we did not pray and would constantly tell us to focus on religion. When people advised him to do something for his children’s future, he would say, “God will take care of them.” Now he is gone, and for many years we have been suffering. We don’t even have a stable home or proper work. We were never taught practical skills or given the education that could help us stand on our own feet, which has made our struggle even harder. Instead of educating my sisters, they were married off early. Today they are dependent on their husbands because they cannot earn for themselves. Because of these experiences, I lost my faith and left Islam. I feel that my sister is still suffering because the focus on religion replaced education and preparation for real life
