ELI5 What is a proton email?

My email was getting very full, and my friend said, "Why don't you create a Proton email? It will help you a lot." The problem is, I don't understand much about creating email accounts, and all the websites I've seen don't explain it very well (one detail: I have autism spectrum disorder). I'd like someone to explain it to me in a more child-friendly way.
