My mum has always been the kind of person who looks after everyone else first. Her career being in the care industry, it’s now my turn to look after her.

Earlier this year she was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a serious blood condition that requires aggressive treatment and ultimately a stem cell transplant. She has recently completed a very intense round of chemotherapy in hospital, and the next stages of treatment are now being planned while doctors prepare her body for a transplant.

Right now she is still recovering from that chemotherapy in hospital. Her immune system is extremely weak, she requires frequent transfusions, and even once she is allowed home she will need to live very cautiously while waiting for the transplant and during recovery afterwards.

One of the hardest parts of this journey is that she spends all of her time indoors. When she eventually returns home between treatments, she needs a safe, peaceful outdoor space where she can sit, get fresh air, and feel a bit like life is normal again. Unfortunately, her garden is currently not that safe haven.. it’s uneven, difficult to maintain, and not suitable for someone who is weak from chemotherapy and facing a stem cell transplant.

I’ve stepped away from work to care for her full-time during this period, which means I simply don’t have the funds to transform the garden myself.

That’s why I’ve set up this GoFundMe.

The goal is to create a simple, low-maintenance recovery garden for her before the transplant process progresses. Somewhere she can safely sit during the months of recovery that follow the transplant, when she will be rebuilding her immune system and regaining strength.

This isn’t about luxury, it’s about giving her a small place of peace during one of the hardest battles of her life.

If we can raise enough, the plan is to level and make the garden safe to walk on, create a small seating area where she can rest outside and Make it low-maintenance so she won’t have to worry about upkeep while recovering

The stem cell transplant process and recovery can take many months, and having somewhere calm and comfortable outdoors will mean the world to her during that time.

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would help massively. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing the page would mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting my mum during such a difficult time

Help me get my mum the garden she deserves
