Lens advice for filming nightlife (Nikon Z)
Hi everyone,
I recently started filming nightlife events for friends and would eventually like to do it professionally.
Right now I’m using a Nikon Zr with the 24-70mm f/4. It’s versatile but in clubs it struggles a bit in low light — I have to push the ISO quite high and get some noise.
I was thinking about the 28-75mm f/2.8, but I’m wondering if f/2.8 is still too slow for very dark environments and if a f/1.8 prime (35mm / 28mm / 50mm) would make more sense.
The only thing I’m unsure about is losing the zoom in a club setting.
For people who shoot nightlife:
- is f/2.8 enough, or is f/1.8 much better?
- is shooting events with a prime lens annoying without zoom?
I’m still quite new to video (only learning settings for a couple months), so any advice would really help!
Thanks
