Bravia sync input delay

I have an e-arc Bravia sync setup using my TV and soundbar and although there’s no audio delay, whenever I adjust the volume, there’s about a second delay before the audio actually adjusts. I did some hardcore troubleshooting and believe I have everything setup the correct way but for the life of me I can’t fix this annoying issue. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this just how it works and there’s nothing to be done? How did you fix it? Even if this is just a me issue I would appreciate if anyone can offer their technical knowledge to help me troubleshoot :)
