If Your Skincare Routine Feels Confusing, It’s Probably Too Complicated
That routine actually isn’t bad at all, but the order and frequency matter way more than people think. Most products don’t need “time” on your face before the next step. Usually 20–60 seconds is enough, just long enough for the previous layer to settle.
Morning should stay simple. Cleanser, toner if you like it, then lighter products first and heavier ones last. So something like blackhead power liquid, snail mucin, vitamin C oil, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Sunscreen is always the final step. The only real rule is to apply from thinnest to thickest texture.
Night is where treatments go. Cleanser, toner, snail mucin, retinol, then moisturizer works fine. But I wouldn’t jump straight into retinol every night unless your skin is already used to it. Two or three nights a week is safer in the beginning. People often irritate their skin by overdoing actives too fast.
One thing I’ve learned after years of messing with routines is that consistency beats complexity. A simple routine done every day will outperform a complicated one you can’t keep up with.
If anything feels irritating, scale back. Retinol especially should be introduced slowly.
Personally I’d keep the routine almost exactly as you listed, just pace the actives and don’t rush your skin into daily retinol.
Curious how others handle wait times between layers. Do you give products a minute or just apply the next step right away?
