Is Auto scouting viable?

Trying out 26 on EA Play and I've been playing mainly franchise. I prefer simming everything outside of the offseason, but I feel like I'm not getting good value on my picks. The scouting percentages are often too low and it ends up being a guessing game. Is there any ability I can use to help with scouting grades or would I need a more hands on approach?
