Random theory about Simon

MHS3 Discussions

There's been a lot of theorycrafting about Simon's role in the game ever since people started realising his suspicious lack of costumes in the Deluxe Edition/DLCs. This has led people to believe that he will either a) die at some point in the game, or b) betray us and become an enemy. All of this speculating got my brain rolling.

When I first started the game one of the few things I noticed was that Simon shared the same eye pupil style as the "default" one for the MC. This is silly in retrospect as I later realised that the rest of the Rangers (and probably more) also share the same pupil style, but at the time I thought it was unique to the MC and Simon and it planted an idea in my mind.

What if Simon is related to the protagonist?

I then later saw a comment from a post on this sub remarking how Simon is curiously the only person with his Kinship stone on his right hand whereas everyone else has theirs on their left. Thus, when you initiate a Double Kinship attack, the MC and Simon create a mirror pose of each other. The commentor then implied about this being a Twisted Reflection in relation to the theory of Simon's betrayal.

Now obviously when one looks at the title of Twisted Reflections the first thought that comes to mind in reference to it is the twin Rathalos. I mean, it's all there in the box art. But the concept of the twin Rathas gave me another fuel for my theories.

What if Simon was the protagonist's twin?

A twin that was cast away just like Ratha's other half, because in their world twins are bad omens signaling the apocalypse. It would give somewhat of a motive for Queen Amara to save the other Rathalos. Maybe she's already been forced to throw away one of her twin children, and in seeing another set of twins she was reminded of what she had done and did not want to repeat the same mistake, even if it meant "betraying" her kingdom.

Highkey think the idea is a bit cliche and kinda don't want it to be right because I lowkey ship the MC and Simon, but anyway, it's all just a theory (A Game Theory!). What do you all think?
