Is the groom being unreasonable?
It’s my best friends wedding in a few weeks, and our tight knit friend group as decided to do a ‘letters to the bride’ book you see all over tik tok at the moment.
We reached out to all her family and close friends about this, we purchased the personalised letter book, and everything was raring to go. During all this, I messaged the groom, asking if he was happy to take part and that the book would end with his letter. His response took us all by complete shock.
He essentially said that this wedding was about him and the bride, and he doesn’t feel comfortable with us having his letter and that he was planning on doing his own letter to give her on the morning. I totally understood this, and said to him if he wants to give it separately of course I understood. But then, he said that us all doing our own letters makes his look less special. He doesn’t want us to do it at all.
We already bought the book and contacted friends and family. What should we do? We absolutely respect him not wanting to be apart of it, but to say he doesn’t want us to do it on top of that has honestly been quite upsetting. The bride is the most family orientated girl you could meet, and we know that these letters would be a memory she would cherish forever.
