Physical affection feels numb
I never had a long term relationship, but had situationships with few people who were physically attractive and I was interested in for a short period of time. I do not really crave physical touch and do not really want sex, but my libido and overall health is okay so basically I just do not need another person to be satisfied.
I noticed that every time other person initiated physical contact first, like hugs and kisses and such, I felt very numb. It’s not that a person was too assertive or it was nonconsensual, it’s just that I don’t feel anything when I get kissed or hugged. It feels like I am too aware of what’s happening and after maybe 10 seconds it starts to feel boring, repetitive and the whole feeling of someone’s body warmth and saliva gets borderline gross. Same with sex so you’re just there wondering if you’re supposed to be feeling something great as people describe it. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if I am missing something?
I always felt asexual and recently got diagnosed with scpd, so I started wondering is this how it manifests or if it is something else? I feel like the numbness had gotten even worse over the years too.
I’d be glad to hear if someone finds it relatable or could share some experience or even advice? I’m really fine with not experiencing anything, but I’m currently working with a therapist and they suggested me to keep trying out different things to improve my social skills and integrate into society a bit better, so I’m genuinely curious if it could get manageable.
