Abdominoplasty 3 years post–gastric bypass
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from people who’ve had abdominoplasty after WLS.
I’m about 3 years post–Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. My highest weight was around 315 lb (142 kg), and I’m currently around 185 lb (84 kg), so roughly 130 lb (58 kg) lost. I’m 5'7" (170 cm) and I’ve been pretty stable for about a year.
The main issue is loose skin in my lower abdomen. When I’m standing, the apron hangs about 1–2 inches over my waistband on most days, and I get irritation/rashes in the fold maybe 1–2 times a month, especially if I’m active or it’s hot. I’m also wondering about muscle repair because I feel like my core is weaker than it should be (not diagnosed, just a suspicion).
For those who were in a similar range of weight loss, what did you end up needing? How did you decide, and roughly how much skin/tissue was removed? How was recovery in real life?
I’m in Toronto and just starting my research, so I would really appreciate surgeon recommendations. Someone already recommended them to me, so does anyone have first-hand experience with Dr. Jugenburg at TCSI for a tummy tuck? I’d love to hear how the consult went, how the follow-up care was, and how you felt about your scar placement/results.
Thank you!
