Finishing Patterned Plywood
Let me start by saying, I hate the finishing part of any woodworking project. Too much hurry and wait for my ADHD. That being said, I'm at the finishing stage of a patterned plywood countertop. Previously I have done Minwax stain, sealed with dewaxed shellac, topped with poly. That was a low traffic surface so it has worked. A kitchen countertop is higher traffic so I'm planning for epoxy instead of poly. From my research the epoxy will adhere to the dewaxed shellac without issue. This is my first real epoxy project so any advice would be great. I plan to fill the voids in the plywood with epoxy. I know i need to make sure those voids are sealed with the shellac. Do I need to let those areas fully cure before I pour the full coverage layer? Do I need to sand between?
