Fever disappeared after collaps
I don't know if it's okay to post this here. It's al in the past but I'm just curious.
I am 46F with a congenital heart defect that results in low EF and episodes of Afib with a high heart rate. Those are mostly suppressed through Amiodarone but still occur occasionally.
A few years ago I had the flu (swab showed influenza A) and was running a fever of 39.5C and rising, even with paracetamol. This (probably) triggered an episode of Afib. I underestimated the seriousness and wanted to ask one of my neighbours to take me to hospital. I was gathering some things to take with me but soon realised I was in no condition to walk around so I wanted to lie down on the couch.
Next thing I know I woke up next to the couch, feeling horrible and noticed I had wet myself. I told myself not to be stupid and called the emergency number. The ambulance arrived very fast, in five minutes or so. They took my vital signs and noticed my temperature was very low, less then 36C. They checked twice with their thermometer and once more with mine. They all gave the same result.
The ambulance nurse quickly decided to take me to hospital. During the ride there I got sick and vomitted which got my heart back into sinus rythm. At the hospital my temperature had tussen but was still below 37C. After some checks and a few hours of observation I could go home.
At home I checked my temperature again, and did so for the next couple of days. It was never higher than 37.5C.
So since then I have been wondering: what happened to my fever? I can understand the collaps leading to a lower temperature, but why didn't it return? The flu virus can't have magically disappeared, can it?
