Onboard a CMO or hire a marketing agency?

Discussion :discuss:

We are an early-stage AI native recruitment platform. We have solid early traction, pre-seed term sheets worth $100k, and strong founders. We now want to strategise multi-channel distribution and a robust GTM. IMO, bringing on a CMO with co-founder engagement is the best way to de-risk distribution, while my cofounder thinks that the product with some marketing agency push is good enough. It's my job to make a decision soon and incorporate our company so we can take the said angel money and proceed.

I am confused.
We have a few influencers (200k+ IG) who are interested in coming onboard and seem smart; however, I am not sure if an agency can do the same job. Founders who have worked with influencers and CMOs, please guide. And to those with marketing experience, please reach out. Thanks!
