I'll say this upfront: if you're playing Requiem with the default camera settings, you're playing it wrong. I know there's been numerous discussions about this topic here on Reddit and elsewhere, but bear with me.

To be honest, I'm mad at Capcom for setting Grace's camera on first person by default. And I get that some people prefer the first-person view. But there's a short section in the beginning of the game, where Grace carries a little girl in her arms (see photos for how it looks when you're carrying her). For me, that moment was. so. special. Up to that point, I felt extremely vulnerable as Grace, thanks to her facial animations, her shaky hands, her sloppy way of running, and her amazing voice acting, none of which (except for the voice I guess) are visible in the first-person view.

When I carried the little girl as Grace, my sense of vulnerability went through the roof immediately! I was barely handling the zombies on my own, and now I had to protect a little girl on top of that, while walking through hordes of zombies and not being able to use my gun! And that little girl is even more vulnerable (>!because of her eyes!<), and she clings to you like you're the safest place on earth, like you're her safe haven. From the way Grace carries her and talks to her, to the way she pats her back to soothe her, everything about this interaction was unique and emotional, and already made Requiem an unforgettable experience for me.

And what do you see in the first-person view, I hear you ask? NOTHING! You see nothing. None of that vulnerability, sense of protection, and caring for this little girl is there when you play in first person.

Even if I was sure about playing Requiem in third person due to my personal preference, this small interaction alone made the default camera settings for Grace seem wrong. So, if you are playing first person because the game told you so, do yourself a favor and play it on third person view on your second playthrough.

You're playing Requiem wrong!
