Limiting Growth of Crab Apples

We have a number of crab apple trees in the shared areas around our house, which are lovely to look at but attract many pests and damage cars.

We’re limited in what we can do to remove the nuisance trees in shared property, is there a way to inhibit growth of fruit on certain areas of a tree without damaging the tree or significantly altering its shape (aka removing larger branches)?
