Boys, how’s everyone going?

I’m starting to lose my mind a bit and just wanted to ask for some honest opinions from other tradies here.

I’m 36, self-employed, responsible and good at what I do. I’m not the most expensive tradie out there but definitely not the cheapest either. Since around October the good enquiries have basically dried up. All I seem to get now is people price shopping or trying to get the job done for peanuts. Builders that used to reply don’t even answer messages anymore.

October was my last really good month. Since then it’s been mostly tyre-kickers and people wanting quality work for two bucks. Nothing serious.

For the last 3 months I’ve been living off my savings and they’re starting to run out. Am I the only one dealing with this right now?

I run things properly – I’m honest, punctual, got a 5-star Google page, Instagram, Facebook, website, the lot. I’ve tried Meta ads, Google ads, everything. Still not getting any decent enquiries.

I’ve thought about putting more money into advertising but honestly I’m not convinced throwing more cash at ads is going to fix the problem. Especially when that money is what I’m using to survive at the moment.

Luckily I’m on my own and don’t have employees, but the situation is starting to stress me out and the savings are slowly disappearing.

Is anyone else going through something similar?

Is the market actually slow right now or am I just doing something wrong with my approach?

Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated. Cheers.
