do yall realise the ppl you defend are grown ass human beings?

RANT

Its not uncommon in kpop that some idols mention an openly known abuser/bad person overall as their fav western singer or their role model. And when they get backlash for it, their fans come to defend them as if the idols/singer are babies who don't know anything about the world.

Some might defend saying that the idol didnt know that the person is a bad human being with multiple criminal records, but shouldnt you know that atleast if you are going to mention that person's name in interviews and videos where millions of your fans will watch you?

Yes, we say that idols/artists should be candid and spontaneous with us fans, but at the end of the day they are public figures with a huge influence, and they should be mindful about what they say in public. Especially in the case of K-pop, where the fanbase consists largely of teens and young adults who are very much influenced by what their favorite idols say.

and no, this is not "sad" and "pitiful" that they have to be mindful about what they say, this is a basic price every public figure has to pay for having such level of influence.
