Help me exit my "cutie patootie" gaming phase
All my life I've been what I call a "cutie patootie" gamer, basically a gamer that only plays very colorful and wholesome games. I've always loved these games since I was a child and I still love them today but I've always felt the pull to try something outside that box. I always had outside pressure from my parents though, because I saw them complain all the time about other kids playing violent games, and that kind of made me create this false "good kid that only plays colorful games" identity, because it somehow made me feel like a better son (Which is baloney if you ask me, I don't know what I was thinking). So basically every time I felt the curiosity to try something more gritty or mature, I denied it to myself just to keep that fake "good boy" persona. But I'm tired of that, I'm already 22 and I'm ready to try something new.
That's why I wanted your recommendations for games that you like in general, that don't fit inside that cutesy colorful vibe. I generally prefer singleplayer games, I'm not that much into online multiplayer stuff but just mention whatever you like.
Here's a picture of some games I've played in the past, so you have a reference of my gaming experience.
