Just completed insanity no bonus weapons. Its more fun than the 1st playthrough

SpoilerGeneral

I understand a lot of people are complaining about the difficulty of insanity, and I did too initially, but once you understand how Capcom wants you to play the game, it wasn't as bad. Its not like RE 4 where you shoot heads and kick zombies.

Hardest parts of insanity for me was Grace Hospital section and the fight vs 'Commander' because I suck at parrying.

The thing that sold me on insanity is all the different interactions zombies have in the Grace hospital section. The 1st playthrough on standard, you normally end up killing a bunch of them, but if you leave them alive they will relocate to new areas and do new things. I was legitimately more scared in the insanity playthrough than the 1st due to having enemies show up in new places and not having saved in a little bit. My best advice for the Grace Hospital section is to literally skip everything including the door crystals, and just get Emily to the Braille. Then have Leon clean house with axe decaps. You can loot/explore the entire hospital on the return trip.

Leon sections were initially annoying because zombies were super tanky and did not stagger. However I discovered that heavy melee attack (the one where you enter the combat stance and do a spinning axe strike) actually minor staggers zombies. If you pause and reset doing the heavy strike again, it will full stagger a zombie allowing for a kick, then an axe decap on the ground.

Once I stopped trying to kill regular zombies with guns and went strictly for axe decaps, the Leon sections became much easier. The only 4 ways I found to do axe decaps were, stealth kill, perfect parry, throwing a melee object at a zombie, and the heavy strike kick method above. The only gun I found to be useful vs zombies is the bolt action sniper. It still one shots them in the head. The rest of the guns were still useful vs bosses, just not zombies.
