Did Yumi seem kinda useless in Season 1 to anyone else?

I've been rewatching the show with my friend whose never seen. I'm not sure if it's because it's become a joke between that I'm looking with a biased view, but Yumi seemed really unhelpful on Lyoko.

More than Ulrich and Odd, it seemed like she would take shots she didn't need to, and die without having killed any monsters.
