Therapy has made some people I know worse

They always had some major red flags, I mean, who doesnt?

For me, therapy was about correcting maladaptive behaviours so I can live a more present and fulfilling life. There are many valid reasons to join therapy, I am sure

But I get wary when people use therapists ONLY/ PRIMARILY to 'talk about life' and to not really use the therapist's skills to fix it.

Because the venn diagram of the people who do that and the people who weaponise therapy talk against anyone who demands accountability from them is a circle.

And if you ask about therapy sessions, it seems like their therapists believe they are just depressed, overwhelmed and infallible angels and its only the world and society hurting them. I once had a therapist who was like that and I made no genuine progress. I would just keep talking and talking and talking, opening the wound and getting nowhere. It made me comfortable with my rotting ngl and I confused it with healing.

I will be joining therapy soon and I hope I find someone suitable.
