Marriage based AOS - bonafide evidence question
Hi everyone,
I'd like to get your opinions regarding whether certain bonafide evidence I have for my marriage based AOS case is enough, or if I need to build up more before applying.
I'll continue to gather evidence all the way up to the interview and submit extra evidence as needed or bring it with me, but I want to get this case as solid as possible.
I'm a VWP overstay who has been here for several years. My US citizen wife and I have been married all that time. We've jointly filed taxes together for the past 3 years (once I got an ITIN), have owned a home together for the past 3 years also (I'm on the house deed together with her, but not the mortgage as I didn't have an ITIN or SSN at the time so they couldn't add me.
We don't have a joint bank account together, but are wanting to get one as soon as possible. I'm aware that if we submit our intent to adjust my status, there may not be enough time to show joint financial stuff in our bank statements.
I know that owning a home together and jointly filing taxes together is strong bonafide evidence, and we also have car insurance together, but do you think it would be better to hold off applying for a few more months and establishing a few months of shared joint bank account usage?
Just FYI, we do have plenty of other bonafide evidence besides the home ownership and joint tax returns like
-
shared medical bills (i'm not on her health insurance though, she paid cash for a surgery i had to have and we have a receipt from that)
-
joint car insurance
-
property tax letters
-
refund checks/mail from our local county
-
letters from our HOA addressed to both of us
-
proof of my wife sending money to me (bank statements, emails, conversations on WhatsApp)
-
photos together over the duration of our relationship
-
being listed as emergency contacts for each other where we can
-
plane tickets and itineraries from when we first visited each other in our respective countries
-
a selection of random (but curated so it's not junk) screenshots over time of the 13 years my wife and I have known each other to show constant communication and us being in a relationship
-
a selection of screenshots from our social media accounts showing us talking about each other and our relationship over the years
I'd like to
-
Add me to utility bills where possible
-
Open joint bank account and run both of our financials through there
-
Maybe add me to the home insurance if possible
I'm just concerned that under the current administration and given my situation that if we wait, we run the risk of policy changes happening that make it even more difficult to adjust, but if we don't wait, that our application will be denied because despite having other evidence, they'll see not having a joint bank account together that we use as a red flag.
Am I overthinking this? Does this seem like an ok amount of evidence or do I need to focus on the joint bank account and building up several months of transactions for us both (or should we do this anyway in the time it takes from applying to interview).
Thank you for your time.
