Original 3ds mild touch screen calibration issues

I am having mild touch screen calibration issues and would prefer to not open up the system.

Additionally I am having issues with the hacking of the 3ds as the terminal portion of the process does not look like the websites walkthrough.

Terminal says I need administrative privileges even though I am the only user of my MacBook.

Any insights?
