One of Kinmen's most esteemed residents is none other than an artist known as MIRANDA, a massively popular singer/songwriter known for his soft smile and high singing voice as well as his distinctive blue hair and unnaturally blue skin. He's perhaps the most famous Hokkien person in history, and his rise to fame can all be traced back to one small island off the coast of Fujian.

Kinmen is the third-largest city in the Province of Quanzhang, and when combined with Xiamen, the two cities historically have comprised the largest urban area in the UDCN outside of Taiwan or Hainan. Most Kinmenese speak Hokkien, an official Chinese language in Quanzhang and Taiwan, and also historically used as a lingua franca in Chinese communities across Southeast Asia. It is not uncommon then for Hokkien speakers in the UDCN to have family in Singapore or Medan or Penang or Manila. Davao in Mindanao is where one particular Hokkien speaker actually spent much of his childhood.

Christian Tse (better known as MIRANDA) was born in a Hokkien-speaking neighborhood in Davao in 2240, but moved to Kinmen when he was 15 years old. Tse most commonly sings modern pop; in the Philippines he grew up on the OPM superstars of the era. But he is also a classically-trained Chinese opera singer known for his unusually high voice. Schools of western opera would call him a countertenor; in his troupe, he would commonly sing more shrill parts that were traditionally offered to women. MIRANDA's most popular song, 'Say Go!!' (2268), frequently switches styles between upbeat Filipino pop and stirring Chinese opera, giving it a sort of otherworldly quality.

In being a widely popular high-voiced male vocalist, MIRANDA pushed back on traditional forms of masculinity. Also his blue artificially dyed skin made him a trailblazer in organic body modification, helping pave the way for Quanzhang to legalize Complete Morphological Freedom by 2270.
