Suggestion: retroactive recovery for pre-Trade Protected CS2 scam cases

Valve introduced Trade Protected for CS2 items in July 2025, which allows trades to be reversed within 7 days.

It’s a great system and definitely improves protection against account compromises and scam trades.

However, it also leaves out a small group of players whose accounts were compromised shortly before the system was introduced.

A discussion started on the Steam forums about whether a limited review could exist for rare verified cases where:

• the compromise was confirmed

• the receiving account was banned

• the items never entered the market

The idea isn’t about reversing every old trade, but about whether very specific cases like this could be reviewed without affecting the market economy.
