Cuts on tongue/meds question

Had my tonsillectomy yesterday…they also did a pharyngoplasty (would be curious if anyone else got this). My surgery was supposed to be 30-40 minutes but ended up over two hours since I guess my tonsils were a lot bigger than they thought (curious too if anyone had this experience). Recovery has been rough so far as expected, I do find it hard for pills to swallow and am worried a bit about that.

My main two questions though are:

  1. During the surgery they seemed to cut my tongue on both sides with two long lines. I assume this is because the device needed to hold my tongue down, but I am worried as I’ve had long covid for 3 years and one of the effects I’ve had is that wounds in my mouth (even sores) take a long time and usually need meds to heal, and in particular my taste buds have a hard time regenerating. Did anyone else have this and how long did it take for your tongue to heal?

  2. For meds, they gave me quite an assortment, but they only gave me 7 oxycodone and told me just to take twice a day (which means I’ll be out before day 4). Is this normal and what were you all prescribed? I heard people taking it every 4 hours. I don’t have any previous history with misuse of prescription medication so it wasn’t like they dialed it back because of that.

Thanks, appreciate the help!
